When you’re 31 but young at heart, embracing certain trends while still appearing to be a mature adult, can be a challenging feat.

One such trend I’m fairly obsessed with is the pompom.  I have been coveting this pair of Josefina Barcelona PomPom Sneakers for about a year, but I just can’t seem to bring myself to spend nearly $400 on shoes… that are flat!

So, when I came across a pair of PomPom Sneakers at Zara, I couldn’t help myself.  For $65 how could I lose?  I marched to the register and excitedly bought my very first pair of pompoms.  Opinions were split down the middle.  One friend called them clown shoes while my husband jokingly (but actually in all seriousness) quipped that if my feet were covered in fur, he would not be seen with me in public.   To top it off, the love of my life, Dilbert (the dog, obviously), was convinced my new purchase was actually a toy for him.

The agonizing debate – to return or not to return – kept me up at night.  I refuse to be too old to wear pompoms!  But, I also don’t want to be that grown woman who thinks she’s still a teenager.  The solution?  The Mature Pom Pom.  Let’s embrace this new trend in a classy way!  See my top picks below:
